“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
Matthew 21:22 NIV
During the seasons of life that are the hardest, we cry out to God for help; we desperately need Him. We pray, “Take this pain away, I cannot carry this burden any longer.” His Word tells us that all we have to do is believe, and we shall receive what we ask for, right? Is it really that simple?
God’s Will
First John 5:14 explains, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us” (NIV). How do we know God’s will? God is always good; He never lies; and all His Word is true. If God says He will heal us, then it is His will to heal us. If God says He will provide for us, then it is His will to provide. First John 5:15 goes on to say, “And if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him” (NIV). We need to read and study God’s Word to find out God’s will for us.
Can Jesus Heal
Can Jesus heal our shattered hearts? I asked this question of Him many times on this journey without my son, Chris. I would cry out to Him, “I don’t know what healing my heart looks like, but I trust You and believe You can.” Jesus tells us in Isaiah 61, He binds us up; He heals the broken-hearted. I believed that was His will for me, and it is for you too. In 2019 He healed my heart, and I was amazed. After eight years of crying out to Him, “Heal me!” He did. Instead of turmoil, I had peace. He removed the trauma of losing Chris and filled me with His beautiful peace. The devil could no longer torment me with the loss of my son.
If We Believe
If we believe, we will receive whatever we ask for in prayer. Keep crying out to Jesus, keep asking Him to come into those deepest soul wounds and heal you. Believe He can and will heal you, because He healed me.
