“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV)
Trust
Sometimes when I walk in the wilderness season, the season of “waiting,” it can become dark and I am not sure which way to go. I don’t feel God’s presence, but I know He is with me, HIs Word tells me, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9 NIV). It is more important for me to be obedient to Him, versus understanding why. I can trust in the Lord; He is always faithful and true.
Cry Out to Jesus
When your heart is hurting and your soul is aching, because you are missing you child, your loved one, cry out to Jesus. He is right there with you, helping you to get through the hard days and nights. He brings you comfort, peace and strength to keep going. During this very hard journey, there are so many things we do not understand. And the more we try to understand, the more confused we become. Especially in this situation, we need to trust Him, rely on Him and yes, give Him our confusion. Father God tells us to just trust Him and He will make our paths straight. During this time it is imperative to give Him everything and trust Him. Our perceptions are off because of deep, traumatic grief. We need Jesus’ help to make through each day, without hurting the ones who love us.
Rage
During the first two years of my journey without my oldest son, Chris, rage tried to consume me on a daily basis. I knew I had to fight it or it would take over. The way I fought it was by releasing it. I would take a big stick and go out in the backyard and smash broken electronics until all my energy and rage, for the moment, was gone. I would suggest for you to find ways to release your anger, and your frustration, constructively. Don’t let it eat you up inside, don’t let it consume you. Then when you are done, come back to your Father God for Him to hold you.
Seek Jesus
Seek Jesus to heal that open, gaping soul wound. As you do this day by day, your healing will come. Your anger will be replaced by His peace. Trust in the Lord, He will never leave you nor forsake you. His Word tells us, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).
